How can I hire my Kariburen motorbike?

If you want to hire a Kariburen motorbike, the best way to do it is to use our booking form (under the ‘Motorbikes’ tab) or simply send us an email (info@kariburen.com). We’ll process your booking much more quickly if you tell us what motorbike you’d like to hire, as well as your desired dates and location.

Who will tend to my hire request?

A specialised agent will guide you through the booking process to provide you with the best motorbike available at any time. Please allow 24-36 hours for us to answer your request and adapt our answer to your needs.

Do I have to pay in advance to book my motorbike?

When you make your booking, you must pay at least 25% of the cost so that your booking is confirmed and deemed binding. If you don’t pay that 25%, we’ll assume that you won’t want to hire the motorbike.

Should you cancel a binding booking, you’ll need to pay the following cancellation fees, calculated on the basis of the first confirmed booking:

– Up to 30 days before the start of the hire period: 25% of the hire
– 30 to 15 days before the start of the hire period: 50% of the hire
– 15 to 7 days before the start of the hire period: 75% of the hire
– 7 days earlier or if you fail to collect your motorbike: 100% of the hire

You must pay the total amount of the hire and all extra costs (accessories, kilometre vouchers, etc.) at least 15 days before the start of your hire period. If you wish, you can pay the total amount of your booking at any time and forget about payment periods.

For short-term bookings (made less than 20 days before the start of the hire), you’ll need to pay the hire in full within a maximum of five days after you make your booking.

In any case, additional kilometres must always be paid for at least 15 days before the start of the hire period.

What is included in the price of my Kariburen motorbike?

When you book a Kariburen motorbike, we guarantee that your motorbike has undergone all roadworthiness checks under the BMW maintenance programme and its tyres are in perfect condition to ride on asphalt. Your booking includes the hire of your motorbike for the days of your choice, side cases and a top case, a first-aid kit and reflective vests for you and your companion. If you need any additional equipment (helmets, jackets, etc.), kindly contact us to check availability.

Is there any minimum motorbike hire period?

During the high season (including June, July, August and September), the minimum hire period is five (5) days for any motorbike.

During the medium season (May, October and Easter/Holy Week) and the low season (the rest of the year), the minimum hire period is two (2) days for any motorbike.

In any event, if you have any special need whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to contact us and we’ll try to offer you the best solution.

What do I need to book and collect my motorbike?

You’ll need to have paid the full amount of your booking and any extra costs (for kilometres, accessories, etc.) at least 10 days before the day of collection. In no case will a motorbike be provided if the total cost has not been paid at least 10 days before the day of collection. You’ll need to have an ID card (valid for the entire period of your booking), a driving licence (which must be valid for the entire period of your booking) and, if you’re not a Spanish national, a passport (valid for the entire period of your booking).

Please remember that you need to be at least 30 years old at the time of collecting your motorbike and have a driving licence type A (in Spain, the category that allows you to ride the most powerful motorbikes) to ride a Kariburen motorbike. You’ll need a driving licence type A valid for at least five years to make your booking. If you’re not an EU resident, you must have an international driving licence.

Additionally, it’s compulsory to wear a helmet at all times when riding a motorbike in Spain. We advise that you also wear comfortable, suitable clothes (a protective jacket, protective trousers, protective gloves, tall boots and back protection). If you need any clothing or equipment, we can help you. Let us know during the booking process and we’ll find a solution for you!

If you don’t fulfil one or more of these requirements, please contact us and we’ll try to offer you the best solution.

If your documents are not in order or if you don’t provide all of them at the time of collection, we’ll have to cancel your booking and no compensation will apply in this case.

– Up to 30 days before the start of the hire period: 25% of the hire
– 30 to 15 days before the start of the hire period: 50% of the hire

Do I need to have my credit card with me at the time of collection?

Yes. Your credit card is essential and indispensable for you to be able to collect your motorbike. Your credit card will be used for charging a deposit, which amounts to 2,000 euros and is compulsory for all hires. The amount of the deposit can be reduced to 1,300 euros. If you want to reduce your deposit to 1,300 euros, this has an extra cost of 20 euros per day (for the BMW R 1200 RT and the BMW R 1200 GS) and 10 euros per day for the rest of models.

If I don’t have a credit card, can I hire a motorbike?

You can hire a bike as long as you pay the total amount of the hire, including any additional kilometres and extra costs, by bank transfer at least 10 days before the day of collection. For the deposit, you must pay 2,000 euros to our account (1,300 if you want a reduced deposit) at least 15 days before collecting your motorbike. If you’re paying by bank transfer, we’ll return your deposit in full if it’s not used, deducting any transfer costs (if your bank account is in a country other than Spain).

Can I get a reduction in my deposit?

The amount of the deposit can be reduced to 1,300 euros. If you want to reduce your deposit to 1,300 euros, this has an extra cost of 20 euros per day (for the BMW R 1200 RT and the BMW R 1200 GS) and 10 euros per day for the rest of models.

Why do I have to pay a deposit to book my motorbike?

We believe you’re going to take better care of the motorbike than if it was yours, but we need that coverage to pay for any potential damage or unforeseen events that may occur.

Your deposit will be returned after the motorbike is examined by a Kariburen agent within 48 hours from return of the vehicle. In case of damage due to misuse, the amount you’ll need to pay will be determined and deducted from the deposit you’ve made. You, as client, must agree to pay the difference if the cost of the damage exceeds the value of your deposit. If the damage cannot be immediately assessed, Kariburen will have 30 days to make any settlement and return your deposit, if applicable, or demand the payment of any difference between your deposit and the cost of the damage.

What do I need to return my motorbike?

It’s really simple! You just need to be at the point of delivery on the day and at the time agreed. In any event, we’ll text and email you 24 hours earlier to remind you of the details of the delivery (date, time and place). The motorbike must be in the same condition as when you collected it, with its GPS device (if you contracted it), the side cases and the top case. The fuel tank must be full.

In what condition will I receive my motorbike?

A motorbike will always be provided clean, with a full fuel tank, wheels in perfect condition to ride, all fluids checked and in operating order, empty side cases and an empty top case and all lamps working. You must return your motorbike with a full fuel tank and collect all your belongings from the cases. We’ll take care of cleaning and tuning it again!

Can I ride my motorbike off asphalt?

It’s expressly and totally forbidden to ride any Kariburen motorbike off asphalt. Moreover, riding off the road may result in a sanction in most European countries.

What if I don’t have enough time to refill the fuel tank?

If the bike’s fuel tank is not full, the answer will depend on how much fuel is missing …

– If the missing fuel amounts to only one line on the digital display, forget about it – we’ll take care of it! You won’t have to pay anything.
– If more than one line is needed to show a full tank on the digital display and at least half of the lines are covered, we’ll charge you 25 euros.
– If less than half of the lines are covered, we’ll charge you 40 euros.

What if I get a fine while using my Kariburen motorbike?

If the police officers issuing the fine give you a notice, you must pay the fine immediately, go to a bank office to make the payment or pay online using your credit card (this will depend on the country or region you’re in). If you receive the notice after you’ve returned your motorbike, we’ll notify the authorities of your name, your ID card or passport number, your driving licence number and the details of your booking so that they can contact you. Kariburen has a zero-tolerance policy in relation to traffic offences, and we will always, at all times, collaborate with the police or legal authorities of any country to solve any kind of problem that emerges during the hire of a motorbike.

Do the motorbikes have GPS navigators?

All motorbikes support BMW’s original navigator, BMW Motorrad Navigator V. A navigator is included for free for hires longer than five days, and costs 10 euros per day in the case of hires shorter than five days. In the event of loss, theft or misplacing of the GPS device, the total cost of the device according to BMW Motorrad prices (currently 701.80 euros, including VAT) will be charged against the client’s deposit.

Why are you asking me to be especially careful with the GPS navigator?

Your BMW Motorrad Navigator V must always be removed from the motorbike when you park. Otherwise somebody may take the navigator off the bike easily, as the device includes no locking system. Carrying the GPS device with you after you park your motorbike minimises the risk of theft and will spare you unnecessary worries.

What should I do if the motorbike breaks down or if I have an accident?

The first thing you need to do is stay calm. You’ll find a sticker inside your motorbike’s cases with a 24/7 roadside assistance telephone number. If you’ve had an accident or your motorbike has broken down, you just need to call that number and you’ll receive assistance by simply stating your motorbike’s registration number.
